Axceler, a SharePoint product and consulting organization, released results of a recent survey the conducted on SharePoint Governance (Results of the survey are located at this link, Registration required).  The results were not that surprising based on what we are seeing in the marketplace with our clients.

Cohasset and ARMA International released the results from their seventh, bi-annual survey of professionals concerning their Records and Information Management practices.  The majority of parpticipants in the 2011 survey classify their job function as Records Management (76%).  I previously blogged about the 2009 survey results (see blog posting at this link.)

Many of our clients are reviewing how to better secure documents that may leave the confines of their technology infrastructure. While protecting paper that contains confidential or Intellectual Property is almost impossible, there are several ways to protect electronic versions of those documents from being used outside the workplace.

I was reading an article this morning on InsideCousel about Auto Classification of Records.  The main point of the article was that employees cannot keep up with the amount of electronic content created each year if they need to manually classifiy records.  While not perfect, auto classification may allow for "good enough" retention with little effort by employees for most organizations.

A colleague pointed me to a recent article from InformationWeek titled Content Chaos (Available here but registration is required).   The article is based on a survey of 425 business technology professionals in July 2011.  I found a couple of the survey results interesting.
