The IMPACT Award for Flexible Workplace went to Access Sciences at the 2009 HR IMPACT Awards dinner held on Wednesday, May 20th. Representatives from Access Sciences were on hand at the event held at Reliant Center to receive the honor.
The HR IMPACT Awards, in conjunction with the Gulf Coast Symposium on HR Issues, was created to raise awareness of excellence in human resource programs and practices in the Greater Houston area.
The specific nomination in the Flexible Workplace category mentioned Access Sciences' AccessibilityTeam (ATeam) Program. With a business comprised of mostly project-based consultants who typically have multiple, often rotating supervisors, the ATeam program was established to help employees feel more strongly rooted in the company. Employees are carefully matched to an ATeam leader with similar experience, skills, and interests. These leaders serve a mentor-type role to the ATeam members offering advice, direction, and solutions. ATeam members also complete an annual performance review which consolidates multiple project reviews into a single annual summary document.
Jeni Howell, HR Generalist for Access Sciences accepted the award on the company's behalf. Access Sciences President, Anne Tülek and Vice President, Corporate Services, Sondra Ludwick were a part of the Access Sciences' team who enjoyed the ceremony.
"Our entire Corporate Services Group has worked very hard to develop new, effective measures to more successfully engage employees in our clients, in our communities, and in our company. The ATeam program is just one way that we have strived to create a more cohesive core of our diverse, expansive employee base. Receiving this award for our ATeam initiative is a great honor," said Ludwick.
In addition to their nomination in the Flexible Workplace category, Access Sciences was also nominated for Recruiting and Retention and Small Company HR.
