I'm the Director of Legal Business Consulting with Access Sciences. The goal of the legal practice is to provide solutions for our clients that best fit their risk tolerance. Or more simply said – provide tools and services that meets the clients' business needs. If their need is for gold-plated, never fail tools – we do that. But not all companies can afford or even need the top-shelf automated tools – it depends on their litigation portfolio and assessment of the complexity of their environment. You have to ask – do they need an F-16 or a Piper Cub. Both are great aircraft, they just fill different needs.

So, off the soapbox – what do we do?? Our focus is on helping clients with eDiscovery. This is really just an extension of the Access Sciences core business of ECRM where we help companies manage their information. In the legal realm, we are concerned with their ability to first off, know what information they have and how to preserve the potentially relevant information for review. Secondly, how can we readily collect just the information that has a high probability of being responsive (while not collecting the information that is clearly not responsive at the same time not leaving any responsive material behind - false negatives). Finally we help clients in their review selection – whether to host externally or internally and we assist in the review process. Our team has managed some of the largest discovery projects this decade.
I do a lot of public speaking, particularly for AIIM and ARMA both for chapters and national conferences. I love to teach and present so if your AIIM or ARMA chapter would like to discuss discovery, please let me know.

Personally, I am very involved in the Boy Scouts of America. I’m an Eagle Scout who just loved camping and the wilderness so much I never stood down from it. I’ve been to Northern Tier Canoe Base twice and Philmont Scout Ranch four times. My backpack is always ready for the next trek. During the off-season I teach the advanced leadership program in scouts called Wood Badge. I was honored to be the course director of SR-922 in the fall of 2008.
